About Me
My name is Bec Wilson and I am 23 years old and live on a farm outside of the small town of Dalwallinu in Western Australia. I am a total country girl and am very close to my family. I am also a strong Christian and try to live my life fully for God. I have grown up on our family farm with my parents, older sister and younger brother, and we have all worked on the farm during the different seasons basically since we could walk. We are smaller farmers (meaning we don't have as much land as some of the bigger farmers) so other than occasionally hiring a workman during seeding and harvest we do everything on the farm ourselves as a family. This has meant that even us girls have had to take on almost every machine on the farm, my personal favourite being the truck.
I went to the local school from Kindy-Year 9 before going to St Mary's Anglican Girls School in Perth as a boarder for years 10, 11 and 12. Since finishing school I have worked on our farm seasonally, mainly with harvest but also spreading and fencing etc - this year will be my fourth harvest as our truck driver. I am enrolled in uni full time however have taken two years off in the middle of my degree to work. I spent a year as a Governess on a station two hours north of Broken Hill near the South Australian border, where I taught twins in year one and an older girl in year six through Broken Hill School of the Air. Since coming home I have picked up my teaching degree again with renewed enthusiasm to finish. I am also extremely keen on drama and dance and all things musical theatre. I have been dancing since I was three and took over the local dance school as soon as I left high school. This year will be my fifth concert with the Dalwallinu Dance Group under my own company Wheatbelt Dance. I currently have 93 students ranging from 4yrs - 20yrs with some travelling a 200km round trip to come to dance each week. In the past year I have also met the most amazing man and we are getting married in October which I am extremely excited about! However I am finding it a little stressful trying to plan a farm wedding, run a dance school and complete my degree full time! My fiancé and I are planning a few working holidays in different countries over the next few years so I am so excited for the next chapter in my life being a wife and hopefully a fully qualified teacher! |
